About the Consortium
What is the
VIBRI Africa Consortium?
The VIBRI Africa Consortium brings together four complementary institutions, each a leader in their national health research landscape, to collaborate on multi-country clinical trials, diagnostic research, and public health programmes.
The Consortium was forged through shared values: scientific rigour, community-centred research, and a commitment to generating evidence that shapes health policy across Africa. It has already demonstrated its capacity through a CEPI-funded COVID-19 study, one of the most demanding multi-country research environments in recent history.
Together, the Consortium covers country-level implementation in Kenya, Rwanda, and the DRC, with cross-cutting project management, regulatory, and quality assurance support spanning 35 African countries.

Proven in the Field:
CEPI-Funded COVID-19 Study
The VIBRI Africa Consortium demonstrated its multi-country research capacity through a CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) funded COVID-19 study, coordinating complex clinical research simultaneously across Kenya, Rwanda, and the DRC. This collaboration established the operational framework, governance structures, and cross-country workflows that now underpin all Consortium activities.
“A consortium built not just for one study, but for the long-term advancement of health research across Africa.”
